Ingredients
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cubed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt
- black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- ¾ cup beef broth
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup reserved pasta water
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Chopped parsley
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the penne in salted water until al dente, then drain, making sure to save some of the pasta water.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter, then sear the seasoned steak cubes until they are browned.
- Incorporate the sliced bell peppers and minced garlic into the skillet and cook until the peppers are soft.
- Add the beef broth and heavy cream to the skillet and simmer the mixture until it begins to thicken.
- Mix in the Parmesan cheese and the reserved pasta water until the sauce is smooth.
- Combine the cooked penne and Italian seasoning with the sauce, tossing to ensure everything is evenly coated.
- Garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes if desired before serving.
You can substitute steak with chicken or shrimp, and add mushrooms or spinach for more vegetables. For extra heat, add hot sauce, or add toasted breadcrumbs for texture.
