Ingredients
- ½ stick butter
- 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
- 1 lb bowtie (farfalle) pasta
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown the sliced smoked sausage in the skillet, then remove and set aside.
- Season the cubed chicken with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, garlic salt, and black pepper.
- Cook the seasoned chicken in the skillet until browned and fully cooked.
- Clear a space in the skillet and add the dry bowtie pasta, toasting it for 2–3 minutes while stirring frequently.
- Add the chicken broth to the skillet, scraping the bottom to release any browned bits.
- Cover the skillet and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth.
- Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet and mix well.
- Allow the pasta to rest for 2–3 minutes to thicken, garnish with parsley, and serve.
